My friend got a pay day loan?
and used me as a reference NOT a co signer! the payday loan company calls and leaves me a voicemail saying they are suing my friend and my name will be included in the lawsuit..I am not sure how they got my social security, and the bill collector said I was a reference not a co signer. I need to appear on court Feb 4. I have not received a letter and this is my first phone call
Do you think it is worth it to take out loans for a private college?
I REALLLLLLY want to go to this school, but it's private (So it's expensive). I want to be a sociology major, specifically in human behavioral studies; religious, culture, music, traditions. I'm super passionate about that stuff, the idea of researching that topic is super appealing to me. I'm gay and Buddhist and know first-hand what it's like to be different. I also understand what and why different cultures develop different customs. I understand that in America we view dogs to be pets and cows to be farmed food and Vice versa in the west, and i don't mind that. I find all that fascinating. I like the idea of exploring, learning about the people, meeting them, making bonds with them. I want to travel and try new things. Like cooked tarantulas, worms, maggots, snakes, everything. I want to EXPLORE.= i just wanted you to know that before giving me an answer. I AM SERIOUS about this stuff. Do you think it is worth it to take out loans for colleges even it is as high as 50k? I know it's a lot, but my teachers and friends parents have all told me that they took out loans and haven't regretted it. They are still paying them back, but make money for it and are happy.
How to experience poverty firsthand?
I want to do an experiment to see what it is like to live with a low-income or in poverty. The problem (well, a good thing actually) is that I am married, we both work, and have health insurance. I'm certainly not going to give up my job for an experiment so what can I do to do see what it's like to live with little money. I lived in South Chicago for a month in college but because I'm working I can't do that. I tried living on the amount food stamps pay each month but to be honest it wasn't that hard because I knew I could have my normal meals in a month. We volunteer at the local soup kitchen and do overnight watches at the homeless shelter, so I see poverty, but what can I do (keeping my job, etc) to experience poverty? Thanks

If i had a post dated paycheck?
and I accedentlly cashed it early (see i had two checks from the same company, one was last payday, and the one i cash was for today (1/28/11) but i cashed it last night.) I went to a local store and they took and and i didn't think anything of it, till i noticed the old paycheck in my car. I called them and told them, they said it was fine, and that the bank would get it prosessed tomorrow (today), since they did a late deposit to the bank...... Am I in the clear?

Yes you can but you would have to get an investment loan that differs from a normal mortgage loan and usually requires a higher down payment and more expensive insurance. A better suggestion would be to try to co-sign a loan with your son and have your son be the owner occupant. It does not matter which state you originate the loan, but only your lender could specify how much down payment would be required. I do suggest you look into the FHA Kiddie Condo program as it seems very applicable to your situation.

take out a second mortgage on home and pay off credit card debts. cut up credit cards. make budget and stick to it. the home loan will be at a much lower interest rate than the credit cards, reducing your monthly expenses. if you can get enough to pay off other loans as well i would suggest doing so. then with all the money youre not spending on credit cards every month apply to home loan and reduce that as quickly as possible. from then on, if you cant pay cash.......dont buy it.

Am I Wrong For Wanting To Be Alone On Valentines Day?
My fiance wants to take me out for Valentines Day, but I know that he cannot afford it. He is trying to get a payday loan to do so, which I think is terrible, and he seems to be offended that I would rather stay home by myself and watch movies that I know he is not going to like but I would quite enjoy. You have no job, you have horrible credit and you are on benefits (which can't be garnished if you don't pay back your loan). You are just going to have to live on what you have from your benefits. Will I lose unemployment benefits if I quit my part-time job? Please help?
First off, I live in California. About 6 months ago I had picked up a second job (part-time, the job I'm working now) in addition to my full-time job that I had had for almost 4 years. Three months ago I was let go from my full-time job so I was able to collect unemployment. The problem is, my PT job is 3 hours a day, for minimum wage. I'm going to have to move back in with my dad who lives an hour away in about a week or so, and if I was to keep the PT job, the cost of gas to get there would eat half of each day's wages. Not worth it since my income is capped by my unemployment, meaning however much I work or don't work, my unemployment adjusts to make it the same every month. I am also actively looking for work and have started going on more interviews. I don't like the idea of constantly asking for days off, especially if it's to find another job. It seems wrong to me but I don't know what to do! I can't afford to lose my benefits because of my financial obligations like my car (which I need for work). I just finished University and my student loans kick in soon, and I won't be able to afford that in this situation! I tried calling an EDD rep at my local one-stop and he said he doesn't know for sure if my situation would allow me to maintain my benefits. My dad lives in a larger area with more job opportunities but with EDD, you never know. If you know whether or not I will lose my benefits please help!

Sometimes you just have to let them know. Age doesn't matter, the obvious isn't hidden from you just because your 1.5 years younger. She will get over it, but i doubt she understands what you said, at some point in the future, something will happen and she will probably say "you were right".

I have a couple of private student loans in default. I was unable to keep putting them in forberance and deferment and now I am in default. I don't know what to do. Why should a man be considered not relationship material if he ask to borrow money from you until payday?
It's the old school way of thinking, that MAN provides and cares for WOMAN. A man is supposed to be the provider and if you have to ask the female for funds, then I guess then it could be interpreted that you are not financially fit, a risk. I don't think that women who think this way are gold diggers. I think they are smart to question their possible mate so that a trusting relationship can be formed.
Constant pay changes?
I worked for my employer for 4+ years. In that time he changed my rate of pay multiple times. 10+. He felt he was paying me too much for the job I was performing. He always paid me a base, then a Bonus on top of it. He would always make the Bonus plan to where he felt I could not reach it. When I did reach it, after a couple of months of hitting the bonus, he would change it again and either reduce the Bonus, or reduce the base. Most payday's I would have to spend several hours out of the day explaining what I had done to earn the bonus, and how I did it within the companies guide lines to reach the bonus because if I did not, they would just not pay me for it. It was a weekly battle with them to get them to pay me for what I had done and they came up with multiple excuses as to why they should not pay me correctly. They gave me a written contract in 2008, then changed it multiple times over the next few months, claiming they could because of a clause they wrote into stating they and I have the write to change it at anytime. The contract was not a professional contract, they wrote it off the cuff and was not reviewed by any attorney ever. Finally they stopped giving me a written contract and would just change the way they would pay me at there convince. I always told him how much I needed to live on from day 1, and they agreed to it, but they always tried to make it less for what ever the reason might be. This past year they made the base the lowest it ever was and reduced the bonus to a point where I could not support my family. I was forced to quit to find other suitable employment. I was never written up for poor performance, suspended or reprimanded in any sort of way. When I asked about the most recent change, I was told by the manager, " it's my job to find ways to not pay you and to put money into the company and the owners pocket". That was when I realized it was time to leave the company. Do I have any recourse towards the company?

An old pay day loan from a different country?
A few years ago I want to say about 3..I took out a payday loan that was established in a different country and paid off only half off it and I had to close my account and I couldn't figure out their number after my phone broke and I had to get a new number...they haven't called me or anything I think it was estabslished in a completely different country then the US and its not on my credit report at all. If they haven't called me or mailed me in the last few years, should I worry about it? If its from a different country? This past fall was my first semester in college. I was raped (but I didn't press charges) and because of that, my grades slipped. You think college students will choose another job now they see how society hates and reviles teachers?
You can't put all that bile back in the bottle. It came out. We now know that most people really, really, really HATE teachers. I now realize that everything I have ever done in the class room was for nothing. All the times I loaned lunch money, all the times I have helped a student, all the late hours grading papers. It means nothing. Society has flipped. Teachers are now the villains. I have a student teacher from the local university doing his classroom hours in my room. He is torn between law school and teaching. I just told him to NOT go into teaching. He will be hated, blamed for everything, and never get his pension. Will this effect teacher recruitment? When I was gettting my teaching credential at UCLA, everyone was all excited about becoming teachers. Now that teachers are the arch villains and scum of society, I think the best and brightest of our future teachers will go elsewhere. I turn on the TV and now am somewhat depressed to see that I am the most horrible person and I am a lazy scum and parasite, and the cause of the recession.

My boyfriend tells me little lies...?
My boyfriend is amazing to me. I finally find a truly nice guy and he treats me so well. The only thing I don't understand is that he sometimes lies to me. And when I mention something about it... he still won't admit to the lie. An example,he wanted to take me out to dinner but I knew he was kinda low on cash. He really insisted. We aren't friends on facebook and I don't care either way. We practically live together so its no big deal. I always ask him why he doesn't request me and he tells me he never goes on facebook, ever. That its been well over a month. Fair enough. Well his mom just made a facebook last night and he accepted her friend request since then. Umm... so he is going on facebook? What's the deal here. I know he's not cheating.. but is he hiding something? I trust him a lot. More than I ever trusted a guy before. But what's the deal? Any suggestions? I don't want this to turn into a fight or anything.. I'm just curious.
Can an employer put a hold on your paycheck due to damages?
My husband accidently forgot to put the brakes on a forklift, which in turn caused it to roll down a slanted hill and into a customers car. He got fired (understandably) but his employer said not only was he not going to get his paycheck (today happened to be payday) but the hold also applied to his final paycheck due to damages. Is this legal? for the record we live in California.

I have worked for a company for the last few years, and here lately they have been making a lot of mistakes with my paycheck. In the process of buying home and found out it has wrong address listed on paperwork?
I am trying to buy a Fannie Mae foreclosure and found out the address on the home is listed with thre wrong house number. The house I am trying to get I noticed on the MLS tax information recieved from our realtor that the house is listed under a different house number than what is listed on realtor information. We have 2 weeks till closing. Is this going to mess anything up and who do I notify about this? We already processed our loan documents and house contract with the incorrect address. I'm having trouble creating a function in matlab basically it's a fucntion that tells you how much your annual payment for a loan should be if you have inital loan amount =p, interest rate= i and number of payments= n. with the function being A=(p*i*(1+i)^n)/(((1+i)^n)-1). now by itself this is easy enough for me but the problem is n is an array from 1 to 5 and the answer has to spit out array the shows the annual payment corresponding to each n value i can get it to work if i simply set n to be equal to a value but not when it's an array help please!!!

Here are some ideas to get gas prices lower: threaten to halt foreign aid, engineering, technology to oil producing countries (US engineers are the ones who get the oil out of the ground for the foreign countries), cut out the gas tax, drill more in the US and resume drilling the the gulf. Electric cars are fine for those who can afford them and don't have to drive very far. Mass transit is ok for the cities, but don't expect me to move to Chicago or Washington. Other alternatives to the gasoline engine are decades away. The government needs to do something before these high prices ruin the economy. Gas needs to be kept around $2 a gallon: no more.

None of them are good but it all depends on how good your credit rating is cos if it's bad then you will get a lender but you will pay back nearly all you borrow and the same amount again. Good credit then you will pay back what you borrow plus a quarter. I borrowed some before I was employed from green wood finance 150 pound wanted more but couldn't paying back 220 pound toutally regrettable and would'nt do it again. I looked on the NSLDS website(http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/) where you can see how much money you have in your pell grant and/or loans and I noticed that my school got "$4,162 from my pell grant with a remainder of $1,388 that says "remaining amount to be paid". I'm not taking summer classes, so am I going to get this refunded during spring semester or is it gonna go back to the government.I also opted to NOT do work study on my FAFSA. Name is on deed...Proof that he isn't responsible?!? Help!?
My mother and father are divorced but my fathers name is still on our deed. My mother is remortgaging the house and applied for the loan with ONLY her name on the application. Because his name is still on the deed he was required to sign several papers. He is concerned about that and basically freaking out. Why are people so scared of? ...?
I was just watching something about loan sharks. And I cannot understand why people are so frightened of them. I mean, everyone knows someone a lot tougher and more capable. For example, how does a loan shark know he's not lending to a soldier, police officer or even a career criminal with a large firm. It's another part of a culture in this country of people being scared of the wrong people. People in track suits, gangs of teenagers, lads in pimped up s*it cars. Bring back proper firms eh?

I received a phone call the other day from a debt collector. It was on a payday loan (which I am not happy about). She at first said she was an investigator and that she was going to have the sheriff arrest me if I didn't pay this back. Here I am with my two kids thinking the worst. What can my wife do about her employer never paying her on time?
My wife has been working for this employer now for about 4 months and when she started everything was okay, her second paycheck was a day late, but we overlooked it, then all of a sudden right after the holidays every pay check she has gotten suddenly can't be cashed until 3-4 days past her payday b/c her employer (who runs one of the most popular florist shops in town they bought it from the former owners not long ago) says the funds aren't in the account to cover the check yet. So, my wife has to wait. In reality, her employer writes her what are bad checks and essentially tells her to wait until the are good so she can cash them. I've had her ask why, knowing when payday is, she doesn't have the money just ready in the account by payday, but her bosses answer is always something having to wait for funds to clear or something, never a satisfactory answer. My wife has told me too, that her boss just doesn't flat out care whether she gets paid on time or not and has acted like it's silly she complains about it, almost like it's weird to get paid on time or something, yet has no problem having my wife work all these additional hours she never asked for but feels forced to work. My wife is looking for another job, but jobs are scarce right now, so she has to play nice with this employer. Problem is now this waiting for her current check to clear is costing us late fees on our bills, b/c we budgeted our money according to paydays. Now we're late on two bills b/c her boss still has not paid her on time...hopefully today. I'm leaving to go Active in the Army here next month, this is such a stupid headache to have with everything else going on preparing for that. I'm 21 years old with a credit of about 669. I've paid off one loan completely, and just purchased a new car (100% bank financed), the only other bills I have are a cell phone and of course insurance for my car, and a small life insurance plan. I have one credit card with a max limit of $1900 that I've had for about 3 or 4 years now. My balance is almost paid off and I'm trying to decide whether or not to close the account. I've had a lot of trouble out of the company and having that $1900 staring me in the face all the time is very tempting to spend. I've recently cut the card and trashed it so I couldn't spend anything but the card did come in handy a few times when I was strapped for cash and needed some in an emergency. Someone told me cancelling it will lower my credit score. True? I thought about cancelling this one since the company is lame and trying to find another one to keep for emergencies but I'm not sure. Debt on credit report?
Recently i have been trying to clear my credit up. I have paid off the last of my medical bills and some hard inquiries are falling off so my score has actually risen in the last few months. I do however have two large debts that i am aware of. One is with a closed or charged off bank account totaling upwards of $3000. And another is a payday loan that is around $2000. These both date back to about 2008 but neither are actually listed on my credit report. I know these debts exist because ive called an its been confirmed, however i dont know why they are not listed. Not that i want them to be listed but i was just wondering if anybody knows why or has had a similar situation? They have both been sold to a collection company but not listed on my credit report. Contrary to popular belief, an employer can fire you for any reason or no reason at all. (Except in Montana.) The only thing that prevents this is either a personal contract or a union.
