My Private student loans are in default. What can I do.?

I have a couple of private student loans in default. I was unable to keep putting them in forberance and deferment and now I am in default. I don't know what to do. I can't pay anything because I don't make much and I have a child. They won't work with me they only tell me I need to pay the full amount now, What in the world, If I had money saved like that I would have never borrowed it in the first place. Someone please help.
