Can I get my Ipod Touch back?

I loaned my friend my Ipod Touch for a day. His father then proceeded to confiscate the Ipod away from him. I called him up later and asked if he would mind giving me back my Ipod Touch. He refused to even consider to give it back. He said he might give it back if my parents were to intervene. He is currently under the impression I stole my Ipod from somebody else. The worst part is that I paid for it myself with money that I worked for over the summer. I never bothered asking my parents to buy it for me. I am currently a minor. My parents said they were not going to be involved if it got stolen or taken away by someone. They said it belonged to me. I still have the original receipt and pickup notification. After talking to him he said it didn't belong to me because I loaned it to his son, and that it was within his household. Is there any way I can get my Ipod Touch back without having to go to court or to have him to talk with my parents.
