Moving to SoCal, which city (LA/San Diego) or beach town is best? 26yrs old, single, from Chicago?

I've lived in Chicago for the past 7 years, always from the Midwest. I'm looking to move to SoCal in the next few months, and my job will allow me to move near either San Diego or LA. I like the hustle and bustle of Chicago, the fact that there's new people everywhere I go, but that I also run into people I know at times. I like that there are more restaurants/bars than I could ever imagine going to, many gyms, and tons of things to do. However, I HATE the winter and LOVE the sun! Which city would I like better, San Diego or LA? And should I live in one of these cities or in one of the many "beach towns" outside of these cities... Santa Monica, Long Beach, Newport Beach etc.... please help, and include both pros and cons! :) thanks! (I also like to take cabs, rather than drink & drive, and this plays into my decision) I'm a 26 yr old, female, single, and looking to easily meet peeps once I get out there!
